Action de Formation En Situation de Travail, or AFEST, is an emerging learning modality. Its emergence formalizes practices that already exist in many companies, and introduces a framework and standardization of methods and tools.
After outlining the definition of AFEST and the main new features of the system, this white paper takes a step back to put the AFEST system in perspective with other existing systems, examine the place of AFEST in training paths, examine the question of the reflective phase (a major new feature of the system) and study the tools and methods available.
Learning on the job is not a matter of course. That's why we're also looking at the preparation required for an AFEST scheme at a number of levels: analysis of work situations, construction of a robust skills repository, tutor training and communication to all the players involved in a systemic approach.
AFEST puts into practice the concepts of learning organization providing skills gains at all levels, as well as overall benefits for the organization of work in general.
